Pray for Andy and Gay Wilkinson

Andy and Gay Wilkinson have been offered and have accepted an assignment with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Their field arrival date is July 24 for their 24 month assignment in South Africa .

They will be living in the capitol city of Pretoria , South Africa . It is a very international and savvy city with electronics and medical provisions on the level of U.S. standards and a climate similar to that of San Diego . Andy's assignment is titled: AIDS Center Administrator / Program Developer / Evangelism / Church Planter. Gay's assignment is titled: Chronological Storying Trainer / Evangelism / Church Planter

Andy and Gay shared, "We praise God for the preparation he provided. We have no fear of the unknowns that we would be experiencing since we have gone door to door witnessing at First Baptist's FAITH evangelism, have been to Africa, and have known many of our fellow missionaries where we will work in Southern Africa. Pray for us to transition in God's peace. We have culled through 35 years of marriage and 19 years in one home. But the job is done. The evidence of worldly entanglement is gone, and we are free. It leaves us knowing much what Father Abraham felt when he left Ur of the Chaldees and journeyed to a land that God would show him! Each of you will always be a part of our ministry. You are vital because as Oswald Chambers has said, ‘prayer is not for the work, prayer is the work.'"

Prayer Requests:

#1 We will know God's direction and effectively meet the needs of our field of service.
#2 We will allow God to be sufficient as we encounter victims of hunger, AIDS, malnutrition, and abandon children, and other global differences.
#3 We will be physically alert and spiritually receptive as we process into a different culture in Africa and separate from family, friends, and emotional ties in the US .
